This year WRESTLEMANIA is taking place at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford NJ, which is located a short 5 miles from me. So between this luck of proximity and my recent phase of getting back into the exciting world of sport/cartoon violence and circus theatrics; my wife and I just had to get tickets. Being that I started writing this at noon on the Sunday of the star-studded event, I wanted to take a few minutes to talk about what this means, what am I excited about and most importantly (and possibly only…depending on how this writing goes) what I am NOT excited about.
I’ve watched nearly every ‘mania over the past 10 years or so and each year I get the same feelings of excitement. I’ll catch up with old friends, drink a few beers and talk and joke about the good ol’ days of wrasslin’, which includes the most memorable years of the ’80s along with the late ’90s, when it seemed to go through a resurgence. On top of this, every year something unexpected happens which adds even more anticipation and excitement.
But every year, one thing that I also notice is how PAINFULLY LONG Wrestlemania always is!
I’m not going to deny my excitement for attending my first ever ‘MANIA. The buildup for the women’s 3-way winner takes all has been insane over the past few months…or year even? The card will feature plenty of other stories and matches that have been holding my interest as well such as Orton v Styles and Kofi v Bryan. And many…many…too many more…
But I have been keeping up with most pay-per-views over the past year, and rarely am I able to watch one in one sitting because they are ALLL SOOO LOOOOONG
So, I don’t know…I’m excited as hell for the action packed evening that I will heading to in a few short hours. But I am right now resting and mentally preparing for a marathon of sorts.
I was going to write more, but I’m going to take a nap, then wake up and make the strongest coffee I ever brewed!
